Built From Scratch (Bernie Marcus and Arthur Blank) Visual Synopsis by Dani Saveker

£3.00

The Home Depot was co founded in the US by Bernie Marcus and Arthur Blank in 1978 and Built From Scratch is their journey from founding the company to turning it into a business with revenues now of $100.9 billion and 400,000 employees.

Dani says:

“While driving back from France, we heard a Tim Ferriss podcast featuring Frank Blake, a former CEO and Chairman of the Home Depot. Apart from being a great story and finding Frank incredibly inspiring he shared with the listeners that when he took over, his son (who was also employed in a Home Deport store) suggested that he use the book Built from Scratch to help guide his leadership. Frank’s son shared with his father how, within the store, they’d read from the book as a team. So I bought a copy. The book may have been written in 1999 but it is literally full of great advice and demonstrates the power of purpose, identity and culture to deliver outstanding results.”

The book is not just an incredible story but full of wisdom and thoughts for anyone in business – and certainly for all leaders!

Dani Saveker studied Product Design and Marketing at the University of Teesside before joining her family’s manufacturing business. Always fascinated with creativity and design, she enjoys capturing notes from books, workshops, presentations and talks in a visual way.

Turning this passion into something a little more, she began publishing her Visual Synopses in 2017 – without considering the reaction that would follow. Authors, publishers and audiences now follow and share her work as well as using it for promotional and educational purposes. The approach utilises the system she developed known as GLAS (Global Life Alignment System)- a creative method, framework and toolkit to equip entrepreneurs, teams and organisations to progress and perform at a whole new level through building confidence and clarity.
